Robby’s Knapsack Challenge: A Puzzle Game Inspired by the Knapsack Problem

Robby is a robot who has a huge debt to pay off. He works as a delivery man, but he has a limited amount of space in his truck. He has to choose the optimal combination of boxes to load and deliver, based on their weight and value. Can you help Robby solve the knapsack problem and pay off his debt before the time runs out?

This game is a submission for the GameOff 2023 game jam, hosted by GitHub. The theme for this year is SCALE, and this game uses scale as a noun to measure the weight of the objects that need to be delivered. This game is inspired by the knapsack problem, a famous optimization problem in computer science that involves finding the most valuable subset of items that fit within a given capacity.

Control:

Use W, A, S, D keys to move Robby around the facility.

Press Space key to make Robby jump over obstacles or gaps.

Click and hold LMB to carry a box. Release LMB to throw a box.
Press LMB near the lever to send the crate.

You can see the remaining time on the left wall and the current weight and capacity on the right wall. Try to maximize your score and minimize your debt before the time runs out. Good luck! 😊
